Scheduling your flight…
Of course, your tandem flight is entirely dependent on the weather. If the wind is too strong or from the wrong direction, we’ll be flying on another day. Be prepared to wait around for a while in any case. (We call this “para-waiting.”) You’ll enjoy the view and we’ll have plenty to talk about. If the weather is bad, your flight will be rescheduled.
How long will our flight last?
Your flight varies in length depending on conditions and on how many tricks you ask the pilot to do.
Do I get to steer?
The instructor takes care of the take off and landing and you can do the rest. This is an instructional flight, so if the conditions are right and your instructor feels it’s safe, you can learn a lot by controlling the glider yourself…
What to wear, what to bring…
Wear your favorite pair of hiking or running shoes. The more ankle support the better. Long pants. Layers of clothing. Anticipate a broad temperature range. Sunglasses and sun screen are also a good idea since we’re a mile closer to the sun than most people.
Bring a good healthy attitude, a camera and a smile. Don’t forget to bring some water. We live in a relatively dry environment and you may get thirsty walking up to our launch site. Your safety and comfort is the most important part of our experience together, so let’s stay hydrated.
Is it dangerous?
All forms of aviation carry risks. We do as much as is humanly possible to mitigate the risks involved in foot- launched flying. Your instructor is an expert and certified by the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association.
